I decided I wanted to go with the exploration of under the sea for my magazine as I felt like I would be able to use the movement of the sea animals to guide viewers through the magazine.

Splash page- 6 column

To start my development I started by creating splash pages with images filling the entire background however I wasn't really a fan of this idea.

I wanted to try out an idea from my thumbnails. I started going for a grey image however I felt like this didn't show the audience they were about to read an article on sea life so I brought in some colour to avoid that. However I still wasn't happy with the final result.

Turn page - 6 columns

I really wanted to try something different and interesting with my type but I wasn't very keen with the final results.

I decided to make one page a full image as I really loved the photograph.

After looking at this without the grids and printing it off I realised it still needed some adjustments.

Splash page - 11 columns

At first I decided to play around with my octopus images as I thought the tentacles were a great way of guiding the viewers eyes to the next page. However, I wasn't very keen on my final thing.

I then decided to try out my idea I did for the 6 columns splash page but changed the image.

I wanted my second design to look different to my first so that I could play more with layout so I decided to carry on playing with splash pages.

Turn page - 11 columns

I tried to experiment with the type again however I still wasn't feeling the final thing. I feel like the background made the test harder to read and it just gave the two pages a cheap magazine quality which I didn't really like.

I tried this idea again without a background colour and I still wasn't a fan of the outcome so I decided to scrap this idea.

I wanted to play around with having one page have just an image on it.

After getting some feedback I realised I was trying to fill thew whole page so I started to try and bring more white space into my designs.

I wanted to have a try and use some illustration as well as photographs on this page however I wasn't very keen on the final layout so I decided to scrap this idea.
