Ren Galeno - 10 years to save the world
Analysing
I decided to analyse Ren Galeno's work because I love the hidden meaning in the work. 10 years to save the world is a reflection of the anxiety a mother has when bringing a child into a climate change world. This mother is imaging her child with all these different traits such as, gills so that the child can breathe under water when the place is flooded. Galeno uses a lot of scene to scene as one minute we see the mother looking at the child after giving birth and then we see her imagining the child in the future winning competitions and swimming. You can see climate change symbolism in this work such as the factory with smoke coming from the roof and trash in the water the child is learning how to swim in. You can also see the mother watching the news in the last scene which indicates that there's a flood problem. I really enjoyed looking at this comic and loved how it showed the worry of a mother through her thinking of her child in the future.
